The mission of the Krakow Technology Park is to further regional development both by creating conditions for the development of high technologies and transfer of knowledge from universities to business, and by building the competitive edge of the industry.
The Krakow Technology Park supports technological development of Małopolska Region and development of entrepreneurship, and promotes innovativeness and new technologies. It is a joint venture of State Treasury, Krakow municipality, Malopolska region, Jagiellonian University, Technical University of Kraków, AGH University of Science and Technology, and Mittal Steel Poland S.A.
As an instrument of increasing innovativeness the Krakow Technology Park integrates the following aspects:
· Scientific and research institutions offering new technological solutions and innovative companies pursuing new opportunities for development;
· Business environment helping with financing, consulting, training and support of development of innovative firms;
· Institutions financing high risk projects (venture capital);
· High quality of infrastructure and advantages of the immediate environment (a pleasant place to live and spend free time);
· High entrepreneurial potential and business climate attracting creative persons from other regions;
· Governmental, regional, and local programmes for supporting entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and development of new technology-based firms.
The most important element of the KPT is the ITC-sector oriented Malopolska' ICT-Park (MPTI) offering the labs, office space and advisory services for the fast growing IT companies.
The Krakow Technology Park is located very close to Kraków academic and scientific centres ensures direct participation of the R&D staff as well as students in the innovative operation and activity of firms situated within the Park. On the one hand, thanks to the immediate presence of scientific organisations, enterprises have easy access to the know-how, research facilities, advice concerning technical matters and intellectual property rights, expert training, and specialist databases. On the other hand, for scientific organisations, this means the possibility of commercial implementation of their scientific and research achievements, researching market appetites and trends, and opportunities for student internships and employment of graduate.
