Gwadar Port Free Trade Zone is a Chinese aided construction. Gwadar Port, Pakistan's third largest port, has basically been completed and is expected to be fully operational in mid-April. Pakistani authorities said that Gwadar Port will be gradually built into a free trade zone. The analysis pointed out that as Gwadar Port is close to the Persian Gulf, a major oil producing area, Gwadar Port is completed and fully operational, which is of great significance to China's energy strategy.

 

The report shows that with the completion of the land acquisition of the 2231-acre Free Trade Zone in Gwadar Port, Gwadar Port will also be fully operational in mid-April and will welcome its first commercial freighter. The head of the Gwadar Port Authority said that the infrastructure construction of Gwadar Port has reached the final stage and is building a free trade zone. Many domestic and international companies have established local trade fairs and will use Gwadar Port as their main Export port. After the project is completed, the goods can be directly transferred from Gwadar Port via Utar, Kuzda, Sukkur to the northern part of Pakistan, saving 400 kilometers compared to the traditional Karachi transportation line.
